SMITH NAMED AREA SALES VP FOR LUTRON

Lutron Electronics, Coopersburg, PA, announces that effective immediately, Director of Distributor Sales, Michael Smith, will assume the newly-created position of Area Sales Vice-President for the Atlantic area.

In his new role, Smith will have responsibility for achieving sales goals and budgets for all assigned channels. He will lead and manage his sales organization, including the rep agencies and the regional sales teams, and will be the key contact in the Atlantic area for Lutron customers, specifiers and influencers.

Smith began his career with Lutron in 1988 upon graduating from Franklin Pierce College with dual degrees in marketing and management. He has held numerous sales positions of increasing responsibility throughout his Lutron career and has consistently achieved double-digit sales growth in each of these roles.

APPLESTEIN HEADS MID-ATLANTIC SALES FOR THE RIGHT TRACK

Brian Applestein has been hired as Mid-Atlantic Sales manager for The Right Track, Inc., Crofton, MD. He brings more than 15 years of sales and marketing experience to his new post where he will concentrate on reaching those designers, architects, window treatment professionals and builders who concentrate on high-end residential and light commercial clients.

The Right Track specializes in the custom fabrication and turnkey motorization of window treatments.

COMFORTEX’S SAWCHUK HONORED BY BUSINESS COMMUNITY

Cathi Sawchuk, director of human resources for Comfortex Window Fashions, Maplewood, NY, has been presented a 40 Under Forty award given by New York’s Capital District Business Review. She was honored for her role in helping to develop Comfortex from a small business to an employer of more than 700.

The 40 Under Forty program acknowledges outstanding members of the business community under the age of 40. Candidates are nominated by Business Review readers and winners are selcted by a panel of business leaders who evaluated 200 nominees based on business accomplishments, leadership and creativity in the workplace and community contributions.

Sawchuk received the award in May. She has been at Comfortex since 1989 and has overseen the human resources department since its inception in 1992. Sawchuk has been instrumental in developing programs in recruiting, retaining and leadership training for company employees. She currently oversees human resource teams in Melbourne, FL; Phoenix, AZ; and Maplewood, NY.
